September Shows

Hey guys... I'm playing several shows (leading up to and) in september. I'll be playing in the Open Mic Madness competition at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta. I did pretty well a couple of years ago, and hope to go all the way this year. I'd love to see some familiar faces and will appreciate you guys showin' some love August 21-26.

I'll be at Smith's a couple of times in September, filling up The Atlanta Room with the funky-pop-soul-acoustic-jam. I hope to see you out there, too. I get to share the stage with Sean McConnell and Micah Dalton. Don't miss these guys. They're great musicians and put on a heckuva live show.

Sean and I will also be together in Tuscaloosa at the Pour Cafe. I love this venue... if your'e in the area (especially if you're a Tide fan) come out for a great, cheap Thursday full of soul-gripping jam.

Fundamental Elements, a couple of more times in September. The past few outings with these boys have been off the proverbial hook. You gotta come out to The Loft in Columbus, GA for this one. Can I pretty please get a what-what?

There's more cool stuff happening and more cool shows to see this fall. New music is being recorded and new friends are being made at every stop along the way.

Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love. See you at the shows.

Thursday

When the flowers have all gone

Morning time brings buds to bloom
But flowers fade away too soon.
I’ll be missing you, here in this room

When the flowers have all gone.

Light a cigarette. Throw the match away.
Trying to make just one more day
I have nothing now, not much to say…

The flowers have all gone.

When winter breaks and trees are bare
Like arms reaching into the air
I’ll reach for you, but you won’t be there

When the flowers have all gone.

Plant a seed.
Cause the earth to shake.
Fulfill your need.
And my heart will break.

The tears we reap are the dreams we sow
Sometimes they die, most times they grow
And when morning comes we both will know...

Where the flowers have all gone.

A porch is a porch, of course of course...

So, I played a house concert last weekend in Birmingham on a porch. But this wasn't just any porch. It was a three-tiered outdoor mini-amphitheater in a neigborhood. What a great time I had at the home of Todd and Kit Heifner. Long-time friends and loyal listeners, these guys brought together about 50 of their best friends to listen to yours truly and I had a blast. Kate Campbell was there. She's this amazing storyteller from Nashville who reminds us that there's humor in everything... there's God in everything... and we've all got a pretty important job to do each and every day: Remind ourselves and others that there's humor in everything, and that there's God in everything.

Anyway, thanks to the Heifner's and thanks to their great family and friends who welcomed me into their lives for a few minutes last week. We recorded the show, and it came out great. Check the site for new songs very soon. Rumors are spreading about a New Year's Eve party. We'll talk more about that later.

Meanwhile, I'm in Nashville with The Fundamental Elements. I love these guys... you should, too. More later... be good. But not too good.

Tuesday

Things are happening...

Scott has several upcoming shows throughout the southeast with friends, The Fundamental Elements, out of St. Louis. Check these guys out. You won't be disappointed.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... um... at home in Atlanta, Scott's continuing to write new material soon to be heard at a venue near you. Check your local listings and keep coming back to the site for updates, show additions and a few surprises this fall.

Be good.
